Timesaver: Salads

On Sunday afternoons I will bust out my salad ingredients and tupperware and get to work. I like to get all the peeling, cutting and chopping out of the way by preparing a bunch salads for the week that I can just grab on my way out the door. I bought mini containers to hold dressing and stick them inside the tupperware along with the veggies.

This saves me a ton of time and it’s great knowing that I have something healthy I can take along with me to work, especially if I forgot to pack a lunch the night before. It’s also wonderful when you’re really tired and don’t feel like doing all of that prep work.

What do you do to save time when it comes to cooking and preparing meals?

    • Heck yeah! I didn’t start doing this until a few months ago. It just never dawned on me how much easier this would be.

  1. I do like to pre-chop all my veggies so I can just grab handfuls to make my salads each morning. And I also like to make a big batch of beans and some grain (currently obsessed with bulgur) so that I can either add that to my salads or just eat on their own with a little salsa and nooch! Yum!

I just got some little containers for dressing, but realized (of course the hard way) that they are NOT leak-proof! I went to shake up a balsamic vinegar/olive oil mix and ended up covered in it! Ahhh!

  2. Why didn’t I think of that! haha i’m always scrambling in the morning throwing together a salad, I need to start doing this. So great. I’m always worried about avocados turning yucky brown, did they keep alright?

    • The avocado will turn if the salad is for later in the week. I usually put avocado in just a couple and then add it to the others in the morning before I eat them.
