Just a few things I’ve been loving this week…

I got a new pair of shoes — Saucony Kinvara 3’s — so these ghost legs can start running again. I have flat feet and absolutely hate the huge, cushioned shoes running stores always want to put me in, especially since the last pair forced my feet into such a high arch that it actually made my foot bleed not even a mile into a run and caused some pretty bad knee pain.

I didn’t want a completely minimalist shoe since I already have Vibrams and Merell Pace Gloves, so I found these after doing a little research and am loving them so far. I did Jillian Michaels’ “No More Trouble Zones” in them last night and loved how they were so light while still providing a bit of cushioning that molded to my feet quickly. I’ll do another review once I run in them for awhile, but so far they’re awesome.

Big grocery shopping trips are so relaxing to me. I love taking my time while looking at all the new products and checking out the packaging. During my big trip this week I ended up getting:

almonds, wheat germ, kale, broccoli, cauliflower, strawberries, tofu, tempeh, coconut flakes, Greek yogurt, green bell peppers, apples, garlic, tomatoes, onions, eggs, egg whites, avocados, apple cider vinegar, tomatoes, whole milk yogurt (for Waves), sweet potatoes, mustard seed, oats, field greens, bananas, limes, and plums

    I had soooo many shoe problems when I first started running last year. I ended up hurting my feet, and I then I got bursitis in both of my knees, which was incredibly painful. I figured out I overpronate (and have pretty flat feet, too) and ended up getting better shoes, and haven’t had a problem since. But, dude, I feel you. When I first got the bursitis, I tried to push through it. I got half a mile down the road and had to turn back. It was terrible.

      Ugh, so sorry to hear that. I went to Fleet Feet and they videotaped me running and then replayed it in slow motion and found out that I overpronate. If you have one of those stores in your area you should try it out! I hated the shoes they put me in (the ones that made my foot bleed), but it was neat to see how I ran. You could also have someone film your feet running while on a treadmill instead.

      How are your knees now? What shoes did you end up getting? I’ve learned that when I start to feel pain I need to stop immediately. I used to push myself too and it’s just not worth it.

    i just got new runners too! course, mine were shipped (half off so i had to grab them) and are too big, but luckily free shipping and easy exchanges, i just have to wait longer for my new babies to come in. =/ love the Saucony’s though! so cute!

      Yeah, I ordered mine from Zappos and ordered a half size bigger than I normally wear and lucked out in that they fit perfectly. That’s good you have free shipping and that exchanges are easy! Zappos is really good about that, too. The waiting is awful though!

      What shoes did you get? I have never gone with Saucony before but really love them.

    I love all the healthy choices…I eat mainly vegan…but do allow for healthy fish 2x a week and an egg or 3 as well…I eat this way for my health and my heart condition has vastly improved! Thanks so much for sharing..following you now! Found you on bloglovin’

      That is wonderful about your heart condition! I’m a vegetarian and I used to not eat much eggs and dairy, but now I have eggs in the morning and Greek yogurt often. I’m glad you found my blog! I’m going to check yours out right now :]

    I overpronate too! Well that and I have super high arches, shin splints, and compartment’s syndrome….but I still love to run for some reason – maybe thats the crazy in me?! Anyway I LOVE these shoes, I’m usually an Asics die hard but these are those kind of shoes that make you want to work out. Are they pretty supportive in the arch and heel? Love Fleet Feet, might have to make a trip to our closest one (Boulder)!

      They are supportive to me, but since I have no arch I’m not really sure how they’d work for you. I found these shoes by searching around for recommendations from runners with flat feet. I ordered through Zappos and they have an excellent return policy so you could wear them around the house for awhile and send them back if they don’t feel right.

      Thanks! I had never tried this brand either, but I love them! I was a die hard Puma fan before but I believe I am now devoted to Saucony.
