Planning for the Week

That ravioli up there was incredible. It came from the Blue Apron box that I won through a giveaway on Veggie Belly’s site. I’ll do a post about all the food I got later, but I had to rave about this ricotta ravioli recipe because it was so good.

It was a lot of fun to make since I had never made pesto or cooked with (or heard of) king trumpet mushrooms. It’s always nice to learn something new in the kitchen and try out new techniques and ingredients. Plus, Greg and I had a ravioli folding contest to see who could make the best looking ones. We were both equally horrible at it haha. I’ll definitely be making this recipe again!

There isn’t really a meal plan this week since everyone’s schedules are all over the place. But there is a workout plan. I have been really focusing on getting into shape here lately and doing good with doing a variety of workouts, plus stretching daily.

For the longest time, I made a lot of excuses about not having enough time to workout or that I shouldn’t worry about it or work too hard since I was still breastfeeding. Well, we have been finished with feedings for a couple of weeks now, so I knew it was time to stop with the bs and focus on what goals I would like to achieve, which are:

1. work on flexibility and stretch daily
Every night after Waves goes to sleep I usually end up watching a tv show while catching up on blogs. I’ve gotten into a good habit of getting onto the floor with my laptop and holding stretches for 2-3 minutes while I check blogs/catch up on tv shows.

2. stronger, more defined abs
Pregnancy did a number on my abs so I want to make them and my back much stronger. I’m already on my way with Blogilates pilates workouts and Elise’s ab workouts on her site and the Cody app.

3. get my diet in check
I’ve not being doing so well with healthy eating since Thanksgiving and the cold weather. I instantly go for the comfort foods when it gets cooler and I picked up a nasty soda habit with the holiday dinners and events that have been going to.

4. up my cardio
Here lately, I’ve noticed that I get winded just going up our stairs. I always sing a song to Waves at night before bed. One night, after taking her upstairs to her room, I had to wait a minute or so to catch my breath before I could sing her song. It was definitely one of the moments that made me realize that I really need to focus on getting back into shape.

So, with all that said, here’s my workout plan for this week:

Monday: strength

Tuesday: zumba playlist (autoplays)

Wednesday: rest

Thursday: strength

Friday: spin

Saturday: walk on the treadmill

Sunday: rest

That’s my plan, along with stretching every day. It’s time to make health and fitness a priority again.

  1. I’ve been enjoying too many sweets and meals out over the last few days with this snow storm! Combine that with not being able to make the drive to the gym or even go outside and I’m feely pretty junky. I’m right on board with you to step it up! Good luck!

  2. I definitely need to work on my flexibility too. I am literally the WORST! And glad you’ve been liking the ab workouts!

  3. Elise’s ab workouts are amazing and so are her abs! haha I need to start incorporating more core work into my routine as well. I just hate making special time for it!

    i’ve finally started working out with some regularity again, and man, i hate cardio now. ten minutes in, and i’m counting down until fifteen minutes so i can feel okay about starting to cool down. not sure what it is, but i just cannot handle it.

      I’m right there with you on cardio. We got a treadmill awhile back and even when I’m watching tv on my laptop, all I keep thinking about when I will be done. Have you tried group classes? I’m usually a lot better about it if I’m in a group setting.

    Good to know I’m not the only making new goals at the moment! Everyone thinks it’s crazy with Christmas round the corner. Why wait til next year, when you can start now?! That’s not to say I won’t be indulging at Christmas ;) Hope you have a great workout week!

      Exactly right about just starting now. I’ll totally be indulging on Christmas as well, but a healthy lifestyle includes that. I know I’d go crazy if I didn’t every once in awhile. You as well!

    I’ve been trying to do more strength training… you should check out the Nike Training Club app. It’s free and has dozens of workouts from 15-45 minutes that focus on strength, cardio, toning, or body-specific. I tell everyone I know about it!
