Weekly Love
Just a few things I’m loving this week…
A perfect night! It was such a beautiful night and Greg & I were coming out of the bookstore and saw this gorgeous sky. The air was warm, we had iced coffees in hand and there was a small breeze going by. I love moments that are so perfect like that.
My pants getting loose! A few months ago this pair of work pants fit perfect and now they are way too loose. It’s good & bad because I really don’t care for shopping and don’t want to spend a ton of money on new clothes. Guess it’s skirts and dresses for me for awhile!
Coffee dates! There’s nothing better than coffee, chocolate chip cookies and good company! My drink was an iced soy latte with 1/2 a pump of chocolate. So good.
Other things that made my week » Watching my Gilmore Girls dvds. I go through this a couple of times a year where I rewatch the entire show beginning to end (except the 7th season- nooo way! never again!). /// white converse /// bed sheets & comforters fresh out of the dryer /// ceiling fans /// salt & vinegar almonds!!!! /// stretching more /// my rain boots & umbrella /// meeting friends for coffee /// Dodgeball. That movie cracks me up when the weather has me feelin’ down.
What are you loving this week?
Ripped In 30: Before & After
Yesterday I finished the Jillian Michaels’ Ripped In 30 Challenge! I did these workouts before work every morning (except one day where I woke up late and had to do it after work) and followed her meal plan with a few modifications. I posted everything I ate during these 30 days here at my Daily Plate. I’ll make a post soon of my favorite meals along with nutrition information soon.
I did each workout Monday through Friday and then took rest days on the weekend. My only exercise was Ripped In 30 and one day where I mowed the yard. I don’t have a regular mower so it’s a bit of a workout!
I have a lot more to talk about regarding the DVD and meal plan, but for now I’m just going to share the before & afters because I’m so excited! :]

Thighs
Before: 20.5 inches / After: 19.5 inches
There’s so much more space between my thighs and between my arms and hips.

I love this one because you can see how my arms have changed. Notice how you can see my sports bra behind my arm in the after photo, but in the before my arm was too big to be able to see that.
I don’t see much of a difference in my biceps, but I am so much stronger. I can do regular and chaturanga push-ups like it ain’t no thing anymore!
I still cant believe this is my after shot! I am really happy with the results.
Overall, this DVD is awesome! The workouts are short, effective and don’t get boring at all. The meal plan isn’t ridiculous and I always made sure I got enough protein and healthy fats and drank a lot of water during this. I would definitely recommend the DVD, but it is no joke and Jillians packs a lot in a twenty minute workout!

Last Week and the Week Ahead
I designed a template for me to post my weekly workouts and calorie totals. This is a little more fun than looking at my heart rate monitor each week, although I’m posting those as well. If you like the template, I made it in Illustrator and if you’d like the AI file just let me know and I’ll e-mail it to you.
Last week (3/7 – 3/13), I worked out for 7:23 and burned a total of 2,905 calories. If you look at my chart up there you’ll notice that I burned 1,222 calories on Friday alone and that is not a typo! I kinda amazed myself that day.. I got up early and did some strength training before work, took Pepper for a walk after work and then spent about 2 hours in the gym since it was Greg’s long run day and I had to wait until he finished. I did a 5k that night and a little bit on the cross trainer and elliptical.
The next morning my right knee felt a little off so I’m taking a few days off to let my body rest. My knee felt a little funky on the crosstrainer, but I figured it was nothing so kept on which was a mistake. I need to listen to my body and I won’t be using the crosstrainer for awhile. I’ve always heard that they are easier on your knees, but mine always feel weird when I’m on that machine. The elliptical is much, much easier on me so I’ll be using it more often.
These were the goals I had set for last week:
1. Do at least 3 workouts before work. I say this all the time and don’t do a one, but I’m determined this week! I’d like my weekly burn to be over 3,000.
I actually got up before work three times and worked out! So proud of myself! My weekly burn was so close to 3,000, but I was about 100 calories short. I still consider this a huge accomplishment.
2. Run a 5k. I didn’t hit my goal last week of running 5 miles, so I’d like to at least do a full 5k this week.
I ran a treadmill 5k in 36:29. Not as good as my last time, but I wasn’t pushing as hard as I did then.
3. Walk Pepper for at least fifteen minutes each day. It’s not fair that he doesn’t get daily exercise just because the weather isn’t nice. He has a lot of energy and fifteen minutes is not a lot of time to help him get some out.
I didn’t get to walk him every day and it was pouring rain on Wednesday and Thursday. I tried to make up for it and took him on an extra long walk on Friday. He still got a lot more exercise than he normally does and his behavior totally reflected it.
Not too bad! With all the exercise and watching my diet (I’ve been keeping detailed food logs over here at The Daily Plate if you wanna check those out), my body has changed rather quickly. I was getting ready for work the other day when I saw definition and lines I’d never seen before! I don’t know about you, but I’m always flexing in the mirror and it gets me so excited to workout! For the longest time I never thought my body could be where I wanted. How could it ever get there when I would exercise for a couple of weeks and then quit and still eat out almost every night? You really have to focus and do some hard work in both your workouts and diet to see the change you want. I love looking strong and being able to do things I never thought I could.
My goals this week:
1. Keep going with my food diary. I’ve tracked everyday for awhile now and I’d like to keep that momentum up!
2. Do more yoga. My knee is a little weird right now so I want to take it easy for awhile.
3. Pack a healthy lunch this week and post them here. The campus I work at is on spring break so there are no dining halls open this week.

This isn’t an official weigh-in, but just some photos of where I’m at now. My weight actually hasn’t changed much, but I’m sure I’ve lost inches and gained muscle. Check the photos out after the cut.
Progress Photos and Last Weeks Happenings
Last week I kicked some serious boo-tay! I worked out for 7:40:46 and burned 3,301 calories! It was a lot of hard work, but everything has sort of clicked into place and it’s not a choice to workout anymore.. I just do it. Yeah, it sucks sometimes and I dread going to a class or putting a dvd on, but once I get started, and especially when it’s over, I feel amazing and it’s all worth it.
A few neat things happened last week:
Here are some goals for this week:
These shouldn’t be too bad- except the morning workouts.
I’m going to start doing monthly progress photos instead so you can see a bigger change. I’ve seen and felt huge results these past couple of weeks which makes me only want to push that much harder. I’m loving it and even have to stop and flex in the mirror a couple times a day. Haha :]
The progress photos are after the cut!
Biltmore House, NYE and Weighing In
On New Year’s Eve we took a trip to Asheville with some friends to celebrate and visit the Biltmore House. Neither of us had been before and it was so much fun.
It was cold and rainy out this time, but I would love to visit in the summer when the gardens and flowers are bloomed. I bet it’s beautiful.
I loved some of the detailing on the outside of the house. There were lots of gargoyles too which were so neat to see.
They had wine tasting going on and while I’m not the biggest fan of wine, a lot of people that were with us are so we stayed there for awhile tasting different varieties. I quit after about four or five glasses, but the boys kept on going.
After it was over everyone’s shopping baskets looked like this. Haha!
I pretty much lived on veggie burgers and fries on this trip. I actually ate worse during these two days than I did during Christmas. I had fries, doughnuts, beer, champagne and a big hotel breakfast the next morning. I didn’t do much working out either so I was a little nervous about this weigh-in. You can see my weight and progress photos after the cut.
